The intensity and spirituality of India is reflected in the temples and marvels of India. Temples are found in every corner in India although they differ in size and shape.

Some are like monumental structures while many are mere small stone buildings.

Temples & Marvals

In fact temples are regarded as place of sanctity where people can be close to God. India is arrayed with thousands of temples, shrines and worship places which are scattered from Himalayan ranges in the north to Kanyakumari in the south.

The temples & marvels of India, located at North India, are in the typical Nagara style. The plan of these temples typically includes a room or Garbhagriha where the main deity is placed. Often these temples are built on platforms and are approachable by a flight of stairs. When it comes to south Indian temples, the Vimana and Gopurams are the main distinctive styles of these temples. While the Vimana is more like a tall pyramidal tower, comprising of several small storeys, the Gopuram has two storeys, differentiated by a horizontal moulding.

Khajuraho temples are one of the popular temples of India. It mainly has three groups of temples, the western group, the eastern group and the southern group of temples. The architecture of these temples is unique. Here you will find erotic sculptures depicted on the temple walls, evoking images of passionate love and human desire. There are also sculptures of gods and goddesses on the temple walls.

Kanyakumari temple is located at the southernmost tip of the country and is notable among the south Indian temples. Here lies the merging point of three seas, the Indian Ocean, the Arabian Sea and the Bay of Bengal. The temple derived its name from the Virgin Goddess Kanyakumari. It is a major tourist attraction and every year thousands of tourists visit this place. Two rocks can be seen emerging out of the ocean. Among these the footprints of the virgin goddess are believed to be imprinted on the one which is known as Sri Padaparai.

The Badrinath temple is also on eof the best known among the temples of India. This temple is dedicated to Lord Vishnu, a male Hindu deity. The presiding deity of the temple is Badrinath. It is believed Shankaracharya installed the deity inside the shrine.

The Tirupati temple is considered to be the richest temple of the world and is located in the town of Tirupati. It is also known as Tirupati Balaji Temple and is a major pilgrimage center of south India. The Dravidian style of architecture is evident in this temple.
