Located on India's central-western coast along the Arabian Sea, Mumbai has grown in its magnificent solitude. Though a part of the state of Maharashtra, it looms as a shockingly cosmopolitan, global city in midst of a traditional hinterland. Shielded from the seas by the western ghats and from the Indian state by its commercial success, it has hewn a prosperous path to self identity. The Mumbai city is tenuously connected to the mainland by a series of marvels of British rule-Bridges. The heart is called the "Island City" that has some of the most expensive real estate that pales even the cities like Hong Kong and New York. The southern claw-shaped end -Colaba is a chief attraction beckoning with the Gateway of India and the Taj Mahal Hotel as well as a multitude of restaurants, classy bars and posh places. The nearby Fort, also bustles with activity and is amongst the choicest spots for any visitor. The Marine Drive, sweeps around Back Bay and embraces the Mumbai’s nerve center . Connecting the high-rise modern business center with Chowpatty Beach, it has more millionaires per feet than all other cities combined. Travel north to the suburbs of Greater Mumbai to get to the two airports, Sahar International and the domestic Santa Cruz.
