Zanskar - The Zanskar region is primarily a Buddhist region with majestic monasteries dotting the landscape. The trek will take you through some of them, the most inspiring being the Karsha Gompa. The trekking trail passes through the Cha Cha La Pass and at the highest point of the trail called Kongmaru La (5150 meters) you can see Ladakh and the Indus Valley. The trek can take about 16 days and the best season to do it is end of July till September.
The Markha Valley - This is another trek that takes you through a wide variety of trails, from the highest point of 4575 meters in the Himalayas down to the rim of the Indus Valley. The trek passes parts of Zanskar, the upper end of the Markha Valley and the famous Hemis Monastery, which is the finishing point of the trek. The trek takes approximately 8 days and the best season is from May to November.
